For those of you who own smaller dogs or cats, you know how difficult it is for them to get up on your bed or furniture (if you want them to, that is). Pet steps are a wonderful solution because you can put it next to your bed or other furniture when you want them up, and then you can move it over when you don’t.

Even better are the pet stairs that lift up to expose storage for the many toys and bones your pet accumulates. I really like these pet steps that are wooden as I love that look with my furniture. It blends instead of ”standing out” as another piece of furniture in the room.

How To Identify Nutgrass

You may have nutgrass and don’t even know it. Definitely do not let it get this big with the seed heads. It is best to apply the Sedgehammer when there are only 2-3 leaves. By adding the surfactant, it will stick to the plant without having to let it get taller.

Don’t try to pull them out. They have tubers (nuts) underground that send off shoots so if you pull one out, you have simply broken off the connection to the next one that will definitely find its way to the surface! I have personally used this product with great results. It took a couple of years of diligent spraying but I don’t have the problem anymore.

I have a lot of customers who have nutgrass and there is a perfect solution.

Sedgehammer is a product from Gowan Company. It was originally a Monsanto product called Manage and they sold the technology to Gowan.

Here are the instructions for successfully eradicating your property from the Yellow & Purple Nutsedge, Nutgrass:

This is a wonderful product for the control of yellow & purple nutsedge.
When I re-did my flower beds and disturbed the soil down deep, the terrible nutsedge emerged.
After consistently spraying every time I saw one pop up through the soil, I got rid of them.
This product works better if you can spray when the nutsedge is not taller than 2” tall or it will take longer to work.

You have to mix this packet in one gallon of water with 2 teaspoons of NONIONIC SURFACTANT * (that is the Spreader Sticker which makes the product stick to the weed). Periodically as you are spraying, be sure and shake the pump-up sprayer to keep the mixture agitated. This is safe in all grasses.

Give yourself some relief from these troublesome weeds-get a packet of Sedgehammer today!

You may have to reapply in 6 to 10 weeks but eradicating these weeds is worth it.
